Walkerville is one of the townships in the southern suburb of Johannesburg with a population of 9430 (2025 census). The is predominantly agricultural area, which comes under Midvaal local municipality.  The church community began at the Salesian Youth Centre chapel in Daleside, about 10 kms from Walkerville, under the care of the Salesian Priest. The Catholic Parish Community was officially started in Walkerville on the 1^st Sunday of Advent 2008 with the blessing of the newly bought property by Archbishop Buti OMI. Fr. Stan SDB was the first priest to serve parish. The Parish community gathered in a big tent and celebrated the mass and sacraments.

After some time, the existing old house was modified and converted into a small church and the church activities were held inside the church. The priest also stayed in the building adjacent to the church.  Meanwhile the project of building a new parish church was taken off with clearing of the site and laying of foundation. The community and donors were enthusiastic and generous with building of the new church.  However, the construction had to be put on hold due to unforeseen circumstances like the transfer of the priest.

The priest who served the parish are as follows. Fr. Stan served as the parish priest from 2008 – 2013. After him came Fr. Michael Mikaloski SDB less than a year in 2013. Fr. Malcom, a diocesan priest also served the parish for a short time in 2013. Fr. Gabriel SVD came to serve the parish in 2014, and he remained until October 2014.  Fr. Joseph V. L, SVD was appointed as the parish Priest from October 2014 to September 2023. Fr. Arun SVD assisted Fr. Joseph from 2018 to 2023. A new presbytery was built in the same compound in 2021 and the priest moved out to the new house. In 2023 Arun was appointed as Parish priest of Rust-er Vaal Parish. Fr. Louis Mathew SVD was appointed as the new priest of Walkerville Parish from 1^st October 2023.

The parish community currently has about 170 members. The Parish has got an outstation, at Savanna, about 30 kms from Walkerville. They do not have a church building yet. They gather for the church services and Mass in the houses of the members.
