Rev. Fr. Charles Kporfor, SVD

Fr Kporfor is a dedicated missionary priest who began his ministry in Botswana in 2022. Upon his arrival, he demonstrated a strong commitment to serving the spiritual needs of various communities, one of which was Holy Cross Parish where he worked as assistant priest. Subsequently, his zeal of commitment to the needs of the local church and adapting to different pastoral roles, led to a change of appointment in 2023 to the Sa- cred Heart Catholic Church Kopong, within the Diocese of Gaborone. In his current capacity, he serves as the Parish Priest of Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church in Sebina, which falls under the Diocese of Francistown.

The mission in Botswana is mainly focused on primary evangelization. This involves the foundational work of establishing the Catholic faith through catechesis, administering sacraments such as baptism, and forming catechumenates. A key aspect of this mission also includes promoting literacy and numeracy, conducting pastoral house visits, and integrating with the community by learning local languages.
